FALL BREAK 2012

One of our new favorite things to do as a family is bowl. We have a blast competing against each other.  We find ourselves at the bowling alley just about every Saturday afternoon. Even while vacationing in Utah over October break we found a bowling alley.

We have a little place tucked away here in Midway, Utah. We love to come up here during the winter months to ski but decided to try it out over the kids October Break. It turned out to be a good idea. The weather was beautiful.  The outdoor activities were refreshing and the scenery was, well, take a look for yourself. It was breathtaking to say the least.
We took a hike with some family friends.

I paused a lot. I wanted the sights, sounds and smells etched into my memory forever. I hope these photographs will bring you as much joy as they brought me upon seeing these magnificent sights. I'm grateful for the daily reminders of the beauty all around us.

I'm so glad a captured this photograph of the girls just being together.
After this beautiful hike we wanted to see more. Mr. B.T.C rented these polaris razors and took us on an unforgettable ride up the mountain. I loved every second (well, except when he got to close to the edge) of this!

There were yellow trees everywhere you looked.

This little trip up the mountain granted me one unforgettable moment. I'll try to describe but I'm afraid words won't do it justice. As we were peering over the edge of this mountain cliff marveling at the beauty all around us the wind began to pick up(I wish you could have heard what we heard). As the wind blew harder the trees began swaying causing the leaves to fall all around us. The millions of falling leaves  began swirling around us EVERYWHERE. It was quite a sight and one I'll never forget!

The girls had to take a few breaks to explore.

We(We'll Mr. B.T.C and the boys)
ventured off the trail for a little rough riding.

We weren't quite ready to end this amazing ride but we turned in the razors and set out on foot to do some more exploring.
We visited The Crater.  It's a spring hidden within a 55-foot tall, beehive-shaped limestone rock. It formed when melting snow on the Mountains seeped deep within the earth. The earth's interior heated the water inside. It eventually formed this volcano-shaped limestone known as the Homestead Crater.  The water is about 95 degrees. I wish I could have gotten better photographs but this will have to do.

We woke up early Sunday morning and attended church.  Next, we took a little drive to go see a friend of mine that I haven't seen since my teen years.  It was so good to see her.  We seemed to pick up right where we left off.  I loved our visit!
We also were able to visit the Greer family. This was a real treat! The kids roasted marshmallows while we visited and were entertained by each others families.

The boys were thrilled when we announced that we would be taking a drive to Tooele to visit the Miller Motorsports Park. I don't think our vacation would have been complete without a little need for speed. These boys totally take after their father.

The geared up and set off.

We were supportive and cheered on our boys from the stands!

While passing through Salt Lake on our way back to the cabin we had to stop by and see the temple.  It was late and we were tired but we were glad we made the choice. It was the kids first time walking temple square.

We left Utah behind and headed to Vegas to visit my sister and her family on our way back to Arizona.
Talk about two very different cities.  We were walking temple square one night and the Vegas strip the next day.
You can see by the kids faces that they prefer Utah over Vegas. They didn't handle to cigarette smoke to well.

This was the kids first trip to Vegas so we visited some of the sights, ate some good food and enjoyed time with cousins and family.

The kids loved the dancing fountains.

Our final good-byes to cousins before heading back to Arizona.
