Jesus loves me

As you know from reading THIS that those fun little wax coated yarn strands called wikki stix have made their way into some unwanted places in our home. They can definitely be used and reused and reused as works of art. For the most part they are pretty mess free, but now they're starting to show up on the outside of the kids' bedroom doors. Lovely! The way they see it, is, anyone passing by their bedroom can view their creative masterpieces. Pretty genius, right? Wrong! So I thought... until today. They've decorated their doors with everything you can imagine from flowers to basketball hoops. Well, here... look for yourself. This would be todays display... Even the little dirt bike that once sat on the dresser can now be displayed on the door . Who knew they were strong enough to hold toys?!? Occasionally , they even find there way to my door. I found this as I walked past my little girls room... (necklace- from primary class. picture of Christ- she clipped from the s

homework done?

Of course Dawson wouldn't have his homework done when he has more important things like this to be doing in the morning. (cereal box cut out) Remember the quote from President Hinckley(I tell myself over and over and over). "Mothers, control your voices, keep them down. Rear your children in love, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. " I'm telling you that quote comes in handy quite often! This kid would be toast if it weren't for this quote.

"the good guy"

Breakfast. I love breakfast. We all love breakfast. We just don’t all love to make it. During the week however I consistently make my family breakfast. I think this is as crucial as just about anything. Although on Sunday morning I've strayed from this routine. If my memory serves me right it was one of those mornings when I grudgingly entered the kitchen (you know the kind I'm referring to, everyone has days like this) knowing you need to make breakfast for the troops but... shock! horror!...you don’t actually want to cook. We'll, hubby, B.T.C. has a way of tuning right in and reading my mind in times like this. Is genius too strong of a word right now? I think not. His reaction was mighty, wonderful and predictable. He jumped right up, excused me from the kitchen and offered to make a hot breakfast dish. And boy did he ever! From that day forward it has been "Dads famous Oatmeal " every Sunday morning. I learned that not only was his Sunday morning breakfast

A smiling face is always beautiful

This week my kids had picture day at school. I made sure their shirts were pressed and their hair looked just right before sending them off. I told each of them to give the photographer their best smile, not because I was anxious to fill an empty frame in the upcoming weeks but because this would be their one and only shot for the school yearbook. Although I appreciate the school photography services from Lifetouch I think I will handle taking the kids portraits this year. I suppose its the process of ordering a package prior to picture day without being able to preview the prints first. I like to view, sort through, then buy. While they were at school getting their Lifetouch pictures taken, I was at home preparing for a portrait session of my own. When the kids returned home they were told that the school session was just practice for the "real session". I found that their "perfect" hair was now flattened and their pressed shirts wrinkled from an active day at

little stud who wears #2

Soccer is in full swing. It's exhilarating to watch our son, the little stud who wears number two, charge through the field with such skillful control. His school team is on a winning streak.  Not only have they won every game so far but no one can even score a goal while playing against them.

"West is Best"

Image
We packed the car up and headed WEST . You know what they say. "West is Best" and I'm a believer! Just look at how we started our vacation, with the best west facing views ever! The vibrance of a sunset is so amazing. Recently, I read that the longer the lens you use while shooting a sunset the larger the sun will appear in your picture. If you shoot with a normal lens (17-55 mm)the sun will look very small, like these photos here. I wanted the sun to be a bit more significant in the pictures at at end of this post (ocean sunset photos) so I used a longer lens(telephoto)See for yourself the difference. B.T.C tried something new when he booked us a room at a place we had never been to before. It was an apartment building right in the heart of the noise and entertainment . When you walk out the front doors of the building we stayed in you are literally right smack dab in the middle of the famous Venice Beach strip. Although a little noisier than we are used to we warmed u
