THE DAY HAS ARRIVED

This is the day we have all been waiting for. My son is officially a real life head to toe missionary.  He is such an independent kid.  In my mind I thought, "no biggie, it's only two years.  This kid is so prepared and will do amazing things!"  I felt nothing but pure joy and excitement, and then... right smack in the middle of the airport terminal... he gave his final hugs... and... I. fell. completely. apart. and so did Mr. B.T.C. Every possible emotion that a human could feel I felt in that very moment. The realization that... -I couldn't just pick up the phone and dial him at any given moment. -We wouldn't have one on one conversations - I couldn't hear his voice - We wouldn't be scheduling luncheons at Pei Wei for TWO WHOLE YEARS! It all sunk in at once and the tears begin to flow.  They flowed and flowed and flowed.  When he walked away looking over his shoulder for that one final glance and kiss that was blown in my direction, I melted right ...

MISSION PAPERS ARRIVED

Nathan has been waiting his whole life for this moment! Elder Nathan Craig has been called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Canada Halifax Mission.  He will report July 30, 2014! He is so thrilled! Friends and family gather around to support Nathan.

I have experienced few things in life as sweet as when Spencer was set apart as a missionary this past week.  Many friends and family were gathered around to hear his powerful blessing.  Many tears were shed as each loved one poured out their love and shared testimonies with him.  I have never felt the spirit as strong as I did while sitting in that little room the evening of June 11th.  This kid has touched the lives of so many through his uplifting energy and positive example.   These boys are Spencer's best of friends. They have a powerful bond with each other.  Each of these boys, except Fred (third from the right) have received their mission calls and will all be serving Spanish speaking missions.  Spencer will be serving in Birmingham, Alabama and YES this is a Spanish speaking mission!  Fred joined the church just under a year ago and is waiting for the opportunity to put in his mission papers.  Watching these boys h...
