with all thy getting

. get up . get the kids ready for school . get the menu prepared . get the laundry done . get that workout in . get that new house . get a reliable car . get good grades . get an enjoyable career . get the lawn mowed . get the "latest" T.V. ...ipod...camera...computer . get that lesson prepared . get that appointment scheduled . get some smiles on those kids' face are you exhausted yet? No, OK a few more... . get that dream vacation on the calendar . get the bills paid . get that book read . get a savings account . get a new pair of shoes . get those extra pounds to shed . get more money OK, I'm guessing you get the point! We spend most of our precious time getting "stuff" Would you agree?!? I realized this after reading Proverbs Chapter 4:7 "with all thy getting get understanding" This verse struck a chord with me in a quiet kind of self reflecting way(I think this is one of those verses worthy of a little yellow post it sticker). It teaches me

Hello, gorgeous California!

With every summer vacation there's a story. Ours included the perfect beach vacation. We enjoyed the water, the sun, the long bike rides along the beach, a little surfing for the boys, and swimming for the girls. Our experience at the Pacific Terrace Hotel in San Diego was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! Everything (shopping, restaurants, ice cream shops, bike rentals, beach and carnival rides) was within walking distance which made it convenient and enjoyable. balcony view beach view I love the sound of excited play and that's exactly what I hear when we go to the beach. This, along with the beauty is why we find ourselves returning often. Oh and one more photo: It's a real b-u-m-m-e-r that this kid didn't wear sunscreen even when his mama told him too. Some kids just gotta learn on their own. ouch!

DTTPP

This acronym has caused quite a stir in our home. Mr. B.T.C wrote this on the board before exiting the kitchen last Saturday evening. One by one we began trying to "break the code". We were told three things... 1. We would be discussing the meaning of this for Family Home Evening. 2. Whoever figures out the meaning gets a $10.00 cash reward. 3. Write down the meaning and be prepared to hand over to Dad Monday evening. Each of us spent the next couple of days trying to figure this one out. Even visitors tried to help. We anxiously gathered around Monday night with our little white papers in hand. One by one we handed them over. Mr. B.T.C looked each one over carefully (a few causing a smile to cross over his lips) and then declared Mom as the winner! Brit...Don't talk till Papa prays Bree... David taught the people prayer Wesley...Do things to practice peace Dawson...(the little cheat just copied Wesley's answer) Mom... Do things to promote peace We've noticed

back to school

Today I've reached one of those time dictated moments in life. My oldest child starts as a freshman in High School. My youngest starts 1st grade (all day school). For the first time in a very long time I will be home during the day without my little ones about me. Wow! this is a bit foreign to me. I'm not sure I like this. All I can think about is...there is no turning back, no second chance. I have been preparing them for this day and have had the marvelous privilege to learn with them. This is just the beginning of an opportunity for them to make a difference in the world. I pray that through their experiences at home, they've come to better understand the importance of preparing themselves so that they might be armed with the personal strength to face the temptations and discouragements that just come with being a human being. To my kids...I will miss our time together during the day but I know that each of you are ready for this and the world deserves to know wh

valuable information

Wow! Time flies. Life's been busy around here. As you can see blogging has slipped down on my priority list (I've got lots of catching up to do). I've been out for a while due to health issues. These UTI's started coming around every two weeks. This has been a true test for me. My sweet husband started doing research. At one point he said, "I'll fly you to the other side of the world if I have to, to find a Doctor that can help treat this problem." He loves me! This last year I've had every kind of test known to man done on me and everything turns out "looking good" as the Doctors would say. This has been great news but frustrating at the same time because I continued to be in constant pain. Through my husbands dedication and research he found a Vulvar clinic (who knew there was such a thing) These specialists are very knowledgeable with issues that quite frankly, gyno's have no clue about. These specialists are few in number. No

Dawson turns 12

I remember shortly after you were born, that special Sunday when your father took you from my arms to give you a name and a father's blessing. I also remember your eighth birthday and how special it was to your father and I as you came up out of the waters of baptism and how grateful I was that your father (a worthy priesthood holder) confirmed you a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Now here we are again, another memorable moment in time where your father once again has placed his hands on your head and this time conferred the Aaronic Priesthood upon you and ordained you to the office of a deacon in the priesthood. Dawson, I hope you remember this day and the importance of it. I also pray that you will follow the example of your father and remain worthy of the priesthood throughout your life. Your sweet little hands will never be the same again. You will now use them to serve others as you serve the Lord. We love you! Happy Birthday Son.
