Future builders of tomorrow

During any kind of school break my boys seem to come alive. When our 3 boys walk out the door it seems that their creativity represents a miraculous coming together of all the neighbor boys within a two mile radius. The group of boys collectively combine their intelligences and come up with all sorts of possiblilties on how they can keep the day fun, adventurous, and full of excitement. As they look across the street at an empty dirt lot they suddenly get wildly enthusiastic about the trash pile at a nearby construction site. Some of the kids’ fondest Halloween memories have come from the time they’ve spent with Grandma Kelly. She puts a lot of energy and excitement into her fun traditions of pumpkin hunting, pumpkin painting, and Halloween crafts. Her activities seem to bring the family closer and create memories that the children will have forever. Discovering the world, eyes wide with wonder

Seeing the world through the eyes of our little Britley is a special view Britley said, "Mom, is the BIG sun circle huger than Dad?" (her sweet words continue to melt me) I believe she's referring to the size of her Daddy’s heart. She knows she’s always been his little bit of sunshine. Her smiles light up his day. She often turns to him to stop her crying happy or not she knows there will always be one who believes in her. T hat makes him pretty BIG in her little world.

This scripture marking system sparked interest in many of my friends and their families so I wanted to share how the idea originated in hopes that it will increase your interest in studying the scriptures. Back in February of 2004 I was reading an article in the Ensign by Marianne Olson. She introduced a simple system for marking her scriptures that was simple enough for children yet meaningful for adults. Her system is as follows… Red: Like a stop sign, this color reminds us what we should not do . Green: A signal to “ go ,” green indicated what we should do . Blue: We use blue to highlight the blessings we are promised if we obey. As I practiced this system, the pages began to respond to my touch and come alive for me. Familiar scriptures once read now seemed as if I were reading it for the first time with new meaning and purpose. I hope that this might be helpful to you as you customize your study of scriptures, church magazines, and your Relief Society manual. As you have a de
