Take Me Out to the Ballgame

There's just something about a baseball game that feels like summer.

The smell of hot dogs and popcorn.

The excitement of cheering with thousands of fans.

The anticipation of every pitch.

And spending an evening together as a family.

We loaded everyone into the car and headed to Chase Field to cheer on our hometown Arizona Diamondbacks.

It was an especially fun night because it was the girls' very first Major League Baseball game.

They loved every minute of it.

From the moment we found our seats until the final fireworks lit up the sky, they were completely entertained.

We were also lucky enough to spend the evening with good friends, which made the experience even better.

Of course, no trip to the ballpark is complete without eating far more than you planned.

Hot dogs.

Popcorn.

Treats.

And yes...

We definitely ate...

And ate...

And ate.

One of the highlights of the evening came when former Diamondbacks player Luis Gonzalez signed the kids' T-shirts and stopped to take pictures with them.

What a class act.

He couldn't have been kinder.

As if the baseball game wasn't enough, we were treated to a Montgomery Gentry concert after the final out.

It didn't take long before the girls were on their feet dancing.

Soon enough...

Everyone else joined in.

The perfect ending to a wonderful evening came when the lights dimmed and fireworks filled the sky.

The kids watched in amazement as the grand finale lit up the entire stadium.

It was one of those nights that reminded me it doesn't take an extravagant vacation to make lasting family memories.

Sometimes all it takes is a baseball game...

Good friends...

A few ballpark treats...

And ending the night with fireworks.

Now that's a home run.
